3D ultrasound is known as "surface" imagery, or images with depth. This type of ultrasound is a "still" image (like a photo) and it is rendered as a result of 2D images (slices) captured from multiple angles and pieced together to form a three-dimensional image. 3D ultrasound produces sepia-toned images which highlight depth and displays more life-like views of the baby.
4D ultrasound is considered "surface imagery in real-time" or a moving 3D ultrasound image (video). It is created from multiple 3D images being pieced together to form "real-time" movement. This allows expectant parents to see the surface, or outside, of their baby with live movement as it is occurring inside the womb.
5D ultrasound is the latest ultrasound technology which provides flesh-toned images of your baby, making them appear more life-like than ever before. HD and HD Live are proprietary labels in the industry which refer to the new ultrasound technology however, the "5th dimension" actually relates to automation.
No. Our ultrasound services are elective in nature and should never be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound. Women seeking an ultrasound with Precious Previews must already be under the care of a physician, midwife or other healthcare provider and have already undergone a viability sonogram.
The "best time" depends on many factors, which include gestational age, position of the baby, location of the placenta, and amniotic fluid level. In order to obtain the most vivid images of your baby's face, we recommend having your 3D/4D& 5D (HD Live) ultrasound performed between 28-34 weeks. For most expectant mothers, later is better because as the uterus and baby grows, we tend to overcome "obstacles" often seen in earlier gestations such as low-lying or anterior placenta or the baby is still in a breech position. It's also important to note that facial characteristics are developed and are more visible as the baby begins to accumulate fat and therefore are more visible after 30 weeks.
Fuller- figured women are encouraged to wait until a minimum of at least 32 weeks. Expectant mothers with multiple gestations (twins) should have their ultrasound performed around 24-26 weeks.
We understand both the desire and the benefits of having loved ones attend this special event. In order to provide safe and quality ultrasounds while maintaining an intimate setting for everyone, expectant mothers may invite a total five guests. Children are welcome if an adult, other than the expectant mother, attends in order to tend to their needs.
Yes! We are currently allowing children of all ages to attend the appointment if accompanied by an adult, other than the expectant mother, who can tend to their needs.
This can be an incredible bonding experience for everyone especially the soon-to-be big brother or big sister. We strive to make it a special experience for everyone who attends.
We recognize that expectant parents want to see and capture the best images possible of their baby and we do too! We will do everything we can to ensure this, however, if during your third trimester ultrasound we are unable to capture images of your little one's face (between 24-35 weeks), we will invite you back for another visit at no additional charge.
Yes, appointments are required at Precious Previews Ultrasound, yet we understand same-day appointment requests.
